Bethany Orozco: Member Spotlight Nov. 11, 2019

Bethany Orozco:
EnCorps STEM Teachers Program / AIAA LA-LV

Bethany is the Statewide Recruitment & Communications Director for EnCorps STEM Teachers Program, a California non-profit that transitions STEM industry professionals into teaching middle and high school.

Bethany’s professional journey began by studying math with actuarial emphasis at the University of Minnesota. She interned with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota and Aon. But a passion for instilling a love of math brought her to Los Angeles through Teach For America where she taught high school math and science at Da Vinci Schools.

Being a teacher made a huge impact on Bethany, she had a 9th grader tell her he would like to pursue architecture because she connected a real-world geometry project to architecture and brought in a real architect. Bethany then discovered her passion for bringing exceptional talent into all classrooms as a Recruiter with PUC Schools and selector for Teach For America. Bethany has recruited EnCorps Teaching Fellows for the last five years and now leads EnCorps’ recruitment team. Bethany earned her Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Minnesota and Secondary Math Teaching Credential from Loyola Marymount University.
